These clocks are adorable. The design is cute and classy for the upscale room. They can become the focal point of a room because of their size and uniqueness. The printed face is fused to a 1/2 inch wood round that has rounded edges. It looks much more substantial than those cheap plastic clocks. The mechanism does not stick out from the back, but is tucked inside a hollowed out hole in the wood of the clock. Another GREAT thing about these mechanisms is that they are almost silent. They are specially made to reduce the ticking sound to almost nothing. The hands move smoothly instead of in the ticking motion. There is a two year warranty on the mechanism.
